Le Seigneur seul est ma force et ma vie :
Qui peut me nuire et qu’ai-je à redouter ?
J’ai pour soutien sa puissance infinie :
L’homme mortel peut-il m’épouvanter ?
2.
Que tout un camp m’approche et m’environne,
Mon cœur, pourquoi t’en alarmerais-tu ?
Qu’en ce péril tout appui m’abandonne,
J’ai mon Sauveur, sa droite fait vertu.
3.
Quand, délaissé par la plus tendre mère,
Je n’aurais plus aucun refuge humain,
Le Tout-Puissant, mon fidèle et bon Père,
Pour me sauver me prendrait par la main.
4.
Toi donc, mon âme, au fort de la souffrance,
Attends de Dieu la grâce et le secours ;
Espère en lui contre toute espérance :
Son bras puissant t’affermira toujours.
5.
Christ est ma paix, mon salut et ma gloire ;
Il est mon Fort, et le Chef de ma foi ;
Par son amour j’obtiendrai la victoire :
Je ne crains rien, Jésus est avec moi.

Was ficht micht an? Vor wem sollt ich erschrecken?
Mich schützt mein Herr, Er ist mein Licht und Heil.
Er, meines Lebens Stärke, wird mich decken;
was kann ein Mensch mir tun, da Er mein Teil?

Naht mir ein Heer, will mich der Feind bekriegen —
ich bin getrost, nicht fürchtet sich mein Herz.
Scheint es auch oft, als müßt’ ich unterliegen,
ist doch der Herr mir Kraft in Freud und Schmerz.

Hätten sogar die Eltern mich verlassen,
ständ’ ich allein, schutzlos vor Satans List,
dann würde hilfreich meine Hand erfassen
Gott, der mein mächtig-treuer Vater ist!

Mußt du, mein Herz, im tiefsten Schmerz auch weinen —
harre auf Gott! Er hilft dir gnädiglich.
Hoffe auf Ihn, will’s dir auch trostlos scheinen;
Sein starker Arm befestigt allzeit dich.

Frieden und Heil, der Weg zu Herrlichkeiten,
Führer und Hort ist mir mein Jesus Christ.
Ja Seine Liebe gibt mir Sieg im Streiten:
ich bin getrost, weil Jesus für mich ist.

The Lord alone is my strength and my life:
who can harm me and what have I to fear?
His infinite might is my support:
can mortal man frighten me?
2.
Should a whole army come upon me and surround me,
my heart, why should there be any alarm?
even if in this peril all support fails me,
I have my Saviour, His arm is my strength.
3.
Should I be neglected by the most tender mother
and no longer have any human refuge,
the Almighty, my faithful and kind Father
will take me by the hand to save me.
4.
Thus, my soul, in the depth of suffering,
await from God grace and help;
hope in Him against all hope:
His mighty arm will always strengthen thee.
5.
Christ is my peace, my salvation and my glory;
He is my fortress, and the leader of my faith;
by His love I shall obtain the victory:
I fear nothing, Jesus is with me.
