Nous élevons, ô tendre Père,
Vers toi nos mains, vers toi nos cœurs ;
Et nous t’offrons notre prière
Dans un amour pieux, sincère,
Comme de vrais adorateurs.
2.
Nous nous sentons devant ta face
Comme donnés à ton cher Fils,
Objets de ta divine grâce,
Près de ton cœur ayant tous place,
Comme Jésus et ses amis.
3.
Aimés ainsi, notre faiblesse,
Dont chaque jour nous gémissons,
Vient faire appel à ta tendresse,
Et, par l’Esprit de la promesse,
Faibles encor, nous bénissons.
4.
Fournissant donc ainsi la course,
Nous nous rendons vers toi, Jésus,
Ayant en toi toute ressource,
Les eaux de la divine source
Et le vrai pain de tes élus.

O treuer Vater, wir erheben
in Liebe Herz und Sinn zu Dir;
Du gabst im Sohn uns ewges Leben,
drum wollen wir Dir Ehre geben
und nahen als Anbeter hier.
2.
Wir fühlen, daß wir vor Dir stehen
als ein Geschenk an Deinen Sohn.
Aus Gnaden fern von Tod und Wehen,
wir uns an Deinem Herzen sehen,
als Jesu Freunde, Ihm zum Lohn.
3.
In unsrer Schwachheit ist Dein Lieben
bei allem Weh und Ungemach
als sichre Zuflucht uns geblieben;
und durch den Heilgen Geist getrieben,
steigt Dank zu Dir, obwohl wir schwach.
4.
So möchten wir den Lauf vollenden
und eilend hin zu Jesu gehn.
Er wird uns allen Reichtum spenden,
das Wasser Seiner Quellen senden
und Himmelsbrot, bis wir Ihn sehn.

We raise up to Thee, O loving Father,
our hands and our hearts,
and we present to Thee our prayer
in godly, sincere love,
as true worshippers.
2.
In Thy presence, we feel ourselves
as given to Thy dear Son,
objects of Thy divine grace,
every one having a place near to Thy heart,
as Jesus and His friends.
3.
Thus loved, each day we groan
because of our weakness,
and appeal to Thy tenderness;
Though still weak,
by the Spirit of promise, we bless Thee.
4.
Thus, pressing on,
we move towards Thee, Jesus,
having in Thee every resource,
the waters of the divine spring
and the true bread of Thine elect.
