Quel prix a pour ton cœur, ô Père,
Jésus, le Fils de ton amour !
De la piété le grand mystère
Nourrit notre foi chaque jour.

Sur les sentiers de cette terre,
Sa joie était de te servir.
Et de la crèche au mont Calvaire,
En lui tu trouvas ton plaisir.
3.
Ton Fils unique a fait connaître
Ta grâce, ô Dieu, ta vérité ;
Dans la splendeur de tout ton Être,
Tu fus alors manifesté.

Sa vie était l’offrande pure,
Sa mort le parfum excellent
De l’Homme saint dans sa nature,
Parfaitement obéissant.

Couronné de gloire suprême,
Il est ta joie et ton repos ;
Il nous a préparé lui-même
Une place avec lui là-haut.

von Seiner Krippe bis zum Tod.

Im eingebornen Sohn bekamen
wir Deine Wahrheit, Huld und Macht,
Dein ganzes Wesen, Deinen Namen
aufs wunderbarste kundgemacht.

Das «Speise-Opfer» war Sein Leben,
Sein Tod der Duft der Lieblichkeit
des Reinen, der Dir war ergeben
in voller Unterwürfigkeit.

Er sitzt gekrönt an Deiner Seite,
ist Freude und auch Ruh für Dich.
Er ging, daß Er den Platz bereite,
und nimmt uns bald hinauf zu Sich.

His death the excellent fragance
of the holy Man in his nature,
perfectly obedient.

Crowned with supreme glory,
He is Thy joy and Thy rest;
He Himself has prepared for us
a place with Him on high.
