« C’est accompli. » L’œuvre de grâce est faite.
De la victoire enfin monte le cri.
Celui qui meurt ayant baissé la tête
A triomphé. C’est accompli.
2.
La coupe est bue. En paix il met sa vie.
Dieu trouve en lui son délice infini ;
Glorifié, dès lors il glorifie
L’Homme parfait. C’est accompli.
3.
L’homme perdu, du fond de sa misère,
Voit le péché par Jésus aboli.
Pour en payer le terrible salaire,
Il a souffert. C’est accompli.
4.
Du haut en bas Dieu déchire lui-même
Le voile saint. Le chemin établi,
Nouveau, vivant, jusqu’au séjour suprême
Nous est ouvert. C’est accompli.
5.
Des nouveaux cieux à la nouvelle terre
Tout chantera bientôt, d’amour rempli.
Louange à Dieu, gloire au Fils, gloire au Père !
À jamais tout est accompli.

«Es ist vollbracht!», das Werk, das Gnade spendet.
Der Siegesruf erschallt nach Not und Nacht!
Er triumphiert, hat sterbend es vollendet,
und neigt das Haupt: Es ist vollbracht!
2.
Der Kelch ist leer. Er läßt Sein teures Leben,
hat Gottes Wohlgefallen ganz entfacht.
Gott ist gerecht und wird nun Ehre geben
Dem, der so rein. Es ist vollbracht!
3.
Der Mensch voll Schuld, verloren, tot in Sünden,
sieht nun zerstört der Sünde ganze Macht;
denn Jesus mußte ihren Lohn dort finden:
Er litt und starb. Es ist vollbracht!

Der Vorhang ist von oben her zerrissen:
Gott zeigt, daß uns der Zugang freigemacht.
Wir dürfen um den neuen Weg nun wissen
ins Heiligtum. Es ist vollbracht!
5.
Wenn alles neu im Himmel und auf Erden,
rühmt jeder Ihn und Seiner Liebe Macht:
«Dem Vater und dem Sohn soll Ehre werden!»
Auf ewig alles ist vollbracht!

“It is finished”. The work of grace is done.
The shout of victory goes up at last.
The One who dies having bowed His head
has triumphed. It is finished.
2.
The cup is drunk. In peace He lays down His life.
God finds in Him His infinite delight;
glorified, henceforth He glorifies
the perfect Man. It is finished.
3.
Lost man, from the depths of his misery,
sees sin abolished by Jesus.
To pay its terrible wages,
He has suffered. It is finished.
4.
From top to bottom God Himself rends
the holy veil. The way established,
new, living, to the supreme abode
is open for us. It is finished.
5.
From the new heaven to the new earth
all will soon sing, filled with love.
Praise to God, glory to the Son, glory to the Father!
For ever all is finished.
